The A&S Leisure Group are delighted to announce that Owlerton Stadium is showcasing its continued support for ensuring greyhound welfare remains at the heart of our sport with a racetrack replacement. After a detailed assessment, the stadium will be leading the way in track safety, with a magnificent £400,000 refurbishment. Including a complete track replacement along with improvements to sand profiles, drainage, and equipment. These enhancements show our constant commitment and dedication toward the safety and welfare of the Greyhounds taking part in the sport.
Since its first race in 1932, Owlerton Stadium has been pioneering the way for greyhound racing. Each year, the Hillsborough venue hosts over 250 greyhound races, speedway, stock car racing, charity nights, and other special events. Awarded Outstanding Achievements in Sports, Hospitality, and Tourism at the 2014 Sheffield Business Awards, the stadium has gone from strength to strength boasting fantastic visitor numbers and has recently surpassed 23,000 followers on Facebook! The stadium is home to some of the major racing events in the Greyhound schedule attracting over 300,000 visitors annually – and this is sure to continue at our spectacular new track.

The stadium will be closed for a short period from the 25th of July 2022 through to the 1st of August 2022, before a grand reopening on the 2nd of August to welcome you all back.
We are overjoyed to announce the renovation, but for now, it’s business as usual! We hope to see you at the stadium to commemorate the original track before the brief closure in July.
